Quickcoat is a free painting-estimate app published by R. J. ENTERPRISES ("we," "us"). This policy explains what information the app handles and the choices you have. The short version: the customers and estimates you create stay on your device, and the only data we receive is anonymous and optional.
At a glance
- No account required. There is no login, and we do not have a copy of your customer list or estimates.
- Your work stays on your phone. Customers, estimates, notes, and your business details are stored only on your device.
- Anonymous usage analytics help us understand market pricing. They never include your customers' information or your business details, and you can turn them off in Settings.
- We never sell your data and do not use third-party advertising trackers.
1. Information stored only on your device
Everything you enter to do your job is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to us:
- Customer details you add (name, phone, email, address, notes)
- Estimates, line items, extras, and any notes on them
- Your business information (business name, contact name, phone, email, license number, address) used to brand your PDFs
- Your rate settings (per-square-foot rates and the various multipliers)
Because this information lives only on your device, we cannot retrieve or restore it. If you delete the app or lose your device, this data is gone. You can create a backup at any time using Settings → Export my data, which produces a file you control.
2. Anonymous usage analytics
To understand how contractors price work and to improve the app, we collect a small amount of anonymous information when you create or finalize an estimate, generate a PDF, set your rates, or rate an estimate's outcome. Each record includes:
- A random identifier generated by the app on first launch (not tied to your name, email, phone, or device's advertising ID)
- Your device type (iOS or Android), the app version, and your time zone
- Anonymous facts about the estimate: the square footage, the options selected (number of stories, difficulty, paint quality, coats), your per-square-foot rates and the calculated totals, and the number and dollar total of any "extras"
- If you choose to rate an estimate: your thumbs-up / thumbs-down and the optional reason
This information is sent to a private spreadsheet that we control and is used only for our own market research and product improvement. You can stop it at any time with the "Share anonymous usage data" switch in Settings → About; turning it off also clears any data still waiting to be sent.
3. Information you choose to send us
If you fill out the optional "Request a walkthrough" / "Leave your email" form (in the app or on our website), we receive the information you enter — typically your name, email, optional phone number, and team size. We use it only to contact you about Topcoat, our paid product. We do not add you to marketing lists, and you can ask us to delete it at any time using the contact details below. This form is processed for us by a third-party form provider; if you never submit the form, no such information is sent.
4. Notifications
With your permission, the app schedules a reminder notification about one week after you finalize or share an estimate, asking how the job turned out. These reminders are scheduled locally on your device. You can decline the permission, ignore the reminder, or turn off notifications for the app in your device settings at any time.
5. Links to Topcoat and other sites
The app and this site contain links to information about Topcoat. When you follow a link, we may include a tag indicating which part of the app you came from, so we know which features contractors find most useful. Following a link opens your browser; once there, the privacy practices of that website apply.
6. How information is protected and retained
On-device data is protected by your device's own security. Anonymous analytics and any walkthrough-request information are transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections and stored in accounts we control. We keep anonymous analytics for as long as they are useful for product research. We keep walkthrough requests until they are no longer needed or you ask us to delete them.
7. Children's privacy
Quickcoat is a business tool intended for painting professionals and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
8. Your choices
- Turn off analytics: Settings → About → "Share anonymous usage data."
- Export or delete your data: use Settings → Export my data for a copy, and delete individual customers/estimates in the app or remove the app entirely to erase on-device data.
- Walkthrough requests: email us to access or delete anything you submitted.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above.
